City of Leduc Selects HouseDiff
Hitachi Software to Provide Footprint Generation & Change Detection Service
Westminster, CO - June 3, 2004 - The City of Leduc, Alberta has selected Hitachi Software Global Technology, Ltd. and its HouseDiff service to generate building footprints and conduct change analysis on its satellite imagery.
HouseDiff is an automatic change detection engine that assists local governments in maintaining more accurate, up-to-date building data. HouseDiff combines existing GIS building and parcel data with recently acquired imagery, resulting in a new GIS file with information on which buildings have changed. This approach accelerates the data collection process and increases the efficiency of manual on-site inspections.
While HouseDiff was designed as an automatic change detection service, the service can also be supplemented to generate first-time building footprints. Phase one of the project will involve initial footprint generation for The City of Leduc. The automatic change detection (phase two) will be completed in late summer 2004.
A city of 16,000 residents, Leduc is located along the Edmonton-Calgary corridor, 15 miles south of The City of Edmonton.
